INCITE! Issue #7: Sports

La revista norteamericana Incite, Journal of Experimental Media ya ha anunciado el listado de contenidos que formarán parte del séptimo número de la publicación. En esta ocasión los editores Astria Suparak y Brett Kashmere centran el foco de atención en la temática deportiva para reflexionar y debatir las diferentes posturas artísticas que se despliegan a su alrededor. Entre las personas que han contribuido al monográfico se hallan artistas y teóricos que entrecruzan las prácticas deportivas y las artes visuales en sus objetos de estudio. Respecto a las colaboraciones de deportistas encontramos tenistas de renombre como Martina Navratilova y las hermanas Williams, baloncestistas como Larry Bird y John Amaechi, skaters como Mark Gonzales, futbolistas como Zinedine Zidane y especialistas en artes marciales como Ronda Rousey. El atletismo, el baseball, el básquet, el fútbol y el golf son algunos de los deportes tratados en una publicación que visualiza problemáticas vinculadas al deporte en tanto que espectáculo de masas mediatizado por la prensa y la televisión, u otras cuestiones más conceptuales y abstractas relacionadas con los valores del lenguaje deportivo, la noción de rivalidad, la existencia del tiempo muerto o el imperativo del resultado final.

La revista INCITE!, especializada en el análisis y el debate sobre la experimentación fílmica y videográfica actual, alcanza su sexto número con un monográfico dedicado específicamente a la noción de temporalidad. Forever es el título bajo el que se presentan un conjunto de artículos, representaciones visuales y colaboraciones diversas de un buen número de cineastas, historiadores y dinamizadores de la escena internacional. El cineasta Walter Fosberg y el archivista del Anthology Film Archives John Klacsmann son los editores de un volumen que incluye la participación de un listado de realizadores, principalmente norteamericanos, ligados al experimental media. Nos referimos a los nombres de Peggy Ahwesh, Craig Baldwin, Bradley Eros, Brian L. Frye, Andrew Lampert, Jesse McLean y Brett Kashmere, el mismo director de la publicación. Todos ellos contribuyen a repensar los medios de creación de imágenes en movimiento en relación al devenir temporal, concentrándolo, prolongándolo o dilatándolo.

INCITE! Issue #5: Blockbuster

El quinto número de la revista especializada INCITE, que se publicará a lo largo de otoño de este año, está centrado en las múltiples concepciones fílmicas del término Blockbuster. Peter Nowogrodzki ha sido el editor de este nuevo volumen dedicado a analizar las múltiples posturas y los entresijos del cine comercial desde perspectivas críticas y artísticas que atañen a los modos de crear, exhibir y consumir el Cine –dentro y fuera de Hollywood. En la editorial se apuntan algunos de los ejes teóricos debatidos en un número en el que participan agitadores y artivistas del experimental media como son Walter Forsberg, Roger Beebe, Lucy Raven, Oliver Laric, Olia Lialina o Brian Droitcour. Las dos imágenes que ilustran la entrada pertenecen a la web 35mm Snipe Films conducida por Walter Forsberg, un espacio online que recupera la publicidad en formato estándar de los fragmentos iniciales y finales de trailers y teasers comerciales.

La revista norteamericana INCITE! acaba de anunciar los contenidos que forman parte de su cuarto número. Esta revista especializada en los Experimental Media hace un exhaustivo repaso de los Microcinemas de Estados Unidos de la mano de sus directores. Light Industry, Early Monthly Segments, Microclimate, Union Docs, Other Cinema o 40 Frames son algunas de estas salas cinematográficas alternativas que han marcado la reciente exhibición de cine y vídeo experimental. Es por ello que la publicación dirigida por Brett Kashmere ha pedido a sus organizadores una serie de reflexiones escritas para recalcar la importancia de estos espacios para el desarrollo del audiovisual actual. Un conjunto de textos sobre los cines móviles, los espacios de cine expandido o la proyección como acto artístico con entidad propia, son algunos de los otros aspectos tratados en esta revista imprescindible sobre el cine experimental.

Entre los días 2 y 5 de octubre de 2012 la ciudad de Pittsburg acoge el VIA Music & New Media Festival, un encuentro que entrecruza propuestas musicales con desarrollos visuales mediante instalaciones, performances, multiproyecciones, conferencias y talleres. Estas prácticas experimentales van de "paracinema" a la animación por computadora y del videoarte contemporáneo a las performances multimedia. Entre la decena de actuaciones y actividades programadas destacan las tres que presenta la revista INCITE: la conferencia de Jonathan Walley  "Not to make films...": dismantled, de-materialized, and unmade cinema, la participación de Melissa Ragona y el propio Walley en la sesión Lightplay: experiments in Paracinema –programadas por Brett Kashmere– y la proyección de piezas New Ages vinculada al número 3 de la publicación INCITE; una velada protagonizada por las piezas de Clint Enns, Lillian Schwartz y Eliza Koch, entre otros. La publicación INCITE! journal of experimental media acaba de editar su tercer número, llamado New Ages. Entre las 160 páginas de las que consta este nuevo volumen se hallan entrevistas, ensayos, artículos de opinión y 20 páginas a todo color vinculadas al mundo del cine y el vídeo experimental. Artistas, cineastas, comisarios y profesores de Estados Unidos y Canada son los responsables de todos ellos. Las reflexiones, los análisis y las conclusiones sucedidas durante el 2010 International Experimental Media Congress celebrado en Toronto (Canada) entre el 7 y el 11 de abril –así como "la renovada fascinación por la espiritualidad, la filosofía y la estética New Age entre artistas contemporáneos trabajando en los media"–, forman parte de un dossier principal, que viene acompañado por otros textos sobre Nam June Paik, Lillian Schwartz o el vídeo digital estructural.

INCITE! Journal of Experimental Media & Radical Aesthetics es una nueva web dedicada al discurso, la cultura y la comunidad del cine experimental, el vídeo y los nuevos media. Su particularidad reside en la publicación de manifiestos, proyectos de artistas, documentos de archivo, entrevistas y demás material de naturaleza híbrida promovido para difundir el diálogo y la reflexión. Brett Kashmere es el editor de este proyecto con sede en Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. El primer número incluye entrevistas a Craig Baldwin, el dossier The Life, Death, and Life of Film, artículos como el de Scott MacKenzie y un largo listado de manifiestos entre los que se incluyen el de Regina Muff, el de Jonas Mekas o el de Richar Kerr.
